Remove the engine cover, remove the cambelt top cover and set engine to TDC
Release coolant expansion bottle, remove the ACF solenoid valve and place both items to one side. There is no need to drain any fluid.
Fit the engine support bar. Remove 3 x 16mm top engine mount bolts. Remove the 4 x 13mm bolts that retain the mount to the inner wing.
Remove 4 x 16mm engine mount carrier bolts and 1 x 10mm.
Mark the rotation of the aux belt. Release tensioner (16mm) and remove aux belt. Using special tool 3415 counter-hold the crankshaft pulley in position.
Remove the 22mm double hex crankshaft bolt. Remove the pulley and be sure to refit the bolt otherwise the spur gear can fall off! Remove the pulley belt tensioner (13mm). Remove the 2 x 10mm cam cover bolts and release the 2 x spring clips.
Mark the bottom pulley to engine case position.
Using VW special tool T10016 lock the cam pulleys. Be careful to mark the pulley positions as the exhaust cam will move when the camshaft link belt is removed.
Release the cambelt main tensioner (13mm). Remove 2nd tensioner (13mm). Remove top and bottom belt idlers (16mm). Take away the locking tool and remove main and secondary link belt.
The exhaust cam pulley will have moved when the link belt is taken away. Be sure to align this when refitting the new part and lock the cams again. Refit in reverse order.
